La Ferla

The outside area of La Ferla is something else! Walk straight into a charming garden dotted with local palm trees. There are many shady spots to enjoy. The real highlight is the pool area that overlooks the sea. Sit on the sunloungers and relax under the sun by the saltwater pool every day. From the garden there is even direct access to the sea via a small gate. The garden also has an outdoor shower where you can freshen up.

There’s an outside dining area and a barbecue near the villa, accessible directly from the kitchen. This covered area is perfect for leisurely meals in the shade. There’s also a roof terrace that offers extraordinary views that you’ll love.

La Ferla is a welcoming villa where you’ll feel at home straight away. Walk into the bright villa from the garden. To the right is a characteristic kitchen with all you need to cook great meals, as well as a lovely dining table and also access to the outdoor dining area. To the left of the entrance is the luminous sitting room, with comfy sofas and floor-to-ceiling French windows that look out over the pool area and out to sea. You can also directly walk out into the garden from the living room. 

The three bedrooms are all found along the corridor between the living room and the kitchen. One bedroom has a comfortable double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a bath. There’s another ensuite bedroom with a French bed. Finally there is a third bedroom with twin beds that can be converted to a double. This bedroom’s bathroom is along the corridor, near the kitchen. 

Megara – the villa next to La Ferla – can also be booked with Villatravellers. Megara is a modern villa for up to ten guests. For a group holiday with so much space, we suggest booking both villas together, so 16 guests can enjoy a care free holiday in Sicily together.

Beaches

You can enjoy sea breezes every day at La Ferla thanks to its seafront position, but there are many other beaches to explore in the area. Brucoli has a small beach that is popular with locals and visitors alike. The sandy beach at La Playa in Catania is also a great choice. With many lidos with sunloungers to rent, a day at La Playa is certainly fun! Nature-lovers should visit either Vendicari or Plemmirio nature reserves. Vendicari has large sandy beaches, whilst Plemmirio has small rocky bays. Another choice if you want the luxury of sunloungers to rent is Fontane Bianche near Siracusa.  

Towns & Sights 

La Ferla is perfect to visit Siracusa, Catania, and the Val di Noto. Siracusa is a dream town for visitors. You’ll find a beautiful town centre with amazing architecture, a fantastic archaeology park with Greek ruins, as well as great restaurants and bars. The Val di Noto is a UNESCO-recognised area of several towns with outstanding Baroque buildings. Noto, Ragusa, Modica, and Scicli should all be visited to experience their unique beauty and style. Catania is a busy city under the shadow of Mount Etna. It’s great for shopping and eating out, and has some wonderful sights like the Sant’Agata cathedral and the historic fish market. 

Activities 

If you want a special experience in the villa, then you can organise an in-villa cook service and enjoy a delicious meal prepared especially for you. Another foodie experience that guests enjoy is a Street Food tour in Catania where you can see the sights and taste the local specialties. You can’t avoid Mount Etna in the area, so book a jeep tour up to the summit for an unforgettable experience. For something a little more leisurely activity on Etna, visit one of the local wineries and enjoy a wine tour and tasting.
