Apolline

The villa sits amidst a large Mediterranean-style garden, with a well-tended lawn, scattered with palm trees and several shady seating areas. To one side of the lawn steps lead up to a large unheated jacuzzi surrounded by decking with sunloungers and a shady pergola. The garden is overlooked by a really spacious and very well-furnished veranda, with a superb outdoor kitchen area, and an impressive built-in barbecue. Above the veranda is a fabulous first floor terrace, with extraordinary sea views, which is accessible via an outdoor staircase that leads directly to the garden.

Bright and welcoming, the villa is simply decorated with dark wooden beamed ceilings and elegant dark tiling. Enter via a contemporary kitchen/living area with table and chairs and one sofa. A corridor leads to a lovely double bedroom with large French windows out to the garden; the bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower. The other bedrooms (a double and a twin which can be converted to a double) and bathrooms (with shower) are accessible, via a corridor, from the other side of the living area. All rooms have air-conditioning.

Beaches

You’re spoilt for choice with the beaches close to Apolline. Porto Ulisse – a lovely sandy beach – is just a few steps away from the villa. You’re also incredibly close to Santa Maria del Focallo which is ideal for a dip in the sea! Pozzallo is not too far away. This sandy beach is famed for water sports! Slightly further afield you can visit Isola delle Correnti, where the Mediterranean and Ionian Seas meet, creating a unique beach experience! For wild expanses of sand, head to the Vendicari Nature Reserve, or if you prefer chic lidos, make sure you stop off at Fontane Bianche, near Siracusa. 

Towns & Sights

Apolline is ideally placed to explore the magnificent Val di Noto. There are several towns that are world famous for their Baroque architecture. Each is more beautiful than the other, but make sure you visit Modica and try its chocolate, Ragusa where you’ll love the winding streets, Noto with its honey-coloured cathedral, and Scicli with its stunning piazzas. Ever-popular Siracusa is not far. Stroll through the historic centre (known as Ortigia) and enjoy the beautiful architecture, vibrant market, and great restaurants, as well as the Ancient Greek ruins. Don’t miss Marzamemi. This small fishing town has a delightful piazza and is ideal for a picturesque lunch! 

Activities 

It’s hard to be bored in this part of Sicily! A great extra experience is a tour of the Val di Noto. Choose either a tour of Ragusa and Modica, or Siracusa and Noto, every town is simply beautiful! If you prefer cool breezes and bright sun, a boat trip along the coast is always a great idea. Explore the beautiful bays and enjoy some serious snorkelling and swimming opportunities. If food and wine is more your style, then a tour of a local winery is a must. South Sicily produces incredible red wines that you can’t miss!
