Palummara is a spacious villa in a wonderfully peaceful location, close to the sea and to several of the island’s leading cultural must-sees and one of the island’s top golf courses. With four ensuite bedrooms and the option of daily cleaning and a cook service, the villa works really well for two families or a small group of friends.
Cleverly designed to take advantage of its hilltop position, with its living space, and huge scenic terrace on the upper floor looking out to sea, this is a great place to unwind and recharge your batteries. The overall feel of the villa is airy, spacious and bright, with large double French windows or doors in all the rooms.

The attractive pool area is set apart from the villa. It is partly shaded by trees and has a paved area with sunbeds and an umbrella. Raised above the pool area is a gazebo, offering a shady spot to cool down during hot Sicilian days.
The highlight of the villa is undoubtedly the large terrace at the front of the property which, from its elevated position, has unbeatable views over the countryside and towards the coast. Part of the terrace is covered by a veranda under which there is a beautiful dining table perfect for al fresco meals.
A very well-equipped barbecue corner, with built-in barbecue and wood-burning oven, is directly accessible from the terrace and provides a great alternative to cooking in the kitchen. There is another outdoor dining area between the villa and the pool – perfect for leisurely lunches!
Other outdoor spaces include a second, smaller terrace, with equally breathtaking views, set just below the main terrace. On this level there are two outdoor showers (with hot and cold water) and a quiet, slightly out-of-the way gazebo with a coffee table and sofas.
Access to the living area is on the upper floor is via the front terrace. Enter into a large living room with a dining area, and directly behind, a well-equipped kitchen and a guest bathroom. A small staircase leads up to a mezzanine area comprising a snug reading corner and a TV.
The bedrooms are on the lower floor and are accessed from a path down from the front terrace or via a staircase from the living room. There are four double ensuite bedrooms, each with a different colour scheme, and a laundry room. All except one bedroom have a fantastic sea view, with one opening out on to the lower terrace.
Beaches
Palummara is the perfect choice for a beach holiday. Located near Torre Salsa – a protected area with an incredibly rugged sandy beach – you can spend all you day at this exceptional and often uncrowded beach where turtles nest! There are other beaches nearby to explore. Eraclea Minoa is a joy with a laid-back atmosphere and a pine forest that surrounds it. The Scale dei Turchi with its impressive white cliffs is also not far away. For lidos and restaurants, choose from San Leone near Agrigento, or Porto Palo di Menfi with its shallow waters.
Towns & Sights
This part of south Sicily is full of small towns that give a glimpse into authentic Sicilian life. Seccagrande is a small town with a beach that’s ideal for families. Sciacca is a port town where fish is brought in daily. Walk through the lovely town centre and then treat yourself to a lunch of fresh fish. Menfi is another small town that’s known for making wine, and also has great sea views. The largest town in the area is Agrigento. Visit it to see modern Sicilian life, but make sure to stop off at the Valley of the Temples archaeology park with its impressive temples.
Activities
Food is often the star of the show during a holiday in Sicily, and it’s easy to have fun foodie experiences. There are several options for in-villa cookery lessons at the villa. Learn how to make a full Sicilian meal, or focus on making fresh pasta or pastry. Everything will be delicious! Or plan a winery tour and tasting to see the area’s best wines. For culture, you can’t beat a private tour of Agrigento where you will be taken to the top sights of the town and surrounding area. For fresh air, sea breezes, and sunshine, the best option is a boat tour of the coastline.
