Gioi

The focus of the outdoor area at villa Gioi is the infinity pool, with incredible views of the rolling countryside below, full of lemon trees. The pool is the perfect place to enjoy a dip in the cool water, or top up your tan on the sunloungers. There are several seating areas in shady spots where you can enjoy a peaceful moment. Hammocks stretch between ancient olive trees, creating a magical place to chill out. There’s also a great outdoor dining area, barbecue, and kitchen where al fresco meals are a must. Competive types with love the ping pong table too. The citrus grove creates an authentic Sicilian atmosphere, complete with a vegetable garden. Gioi’s outside is idyllic!

Villa Gioi is made of two separate buildings, both laid out on the ground floor. The Main House is the heart of the villa, with a beautiful open-plan kitchen and living area. There are comfy sofas, all the necessary kitchen equipment, and a dining table. The kitchen leads directly outside to the outdoor dining area and outdoor kitchen. A mezzanine area above the kitchen has a sofa, and TV with surround sound that’s ideal for relaxing evening with a film.

There are two bedrooms in the Main House. The first has a four-poster bed, ensuite bathroom, and access to the garden. The second has a double bed and direct access outside, and has a bathroom nearby along the corridor.

The Pool House is made up of two bedrooms (one with a double bed, the other with twin beds), each with their own ensuite bathroom. These rooms have independent access from the outside, adding another level of privacy for guests.

Mira – a villa very close to Gioi - is also available to rent. This is a beautiful villa with space for up to eight guests. Book both villas for a group holiday of up to 16 people and enjoy a wonderful holiday in Sicily together with friends and family. 

Beaches

South-east Sicily has some of the best beaches on the island, and Gioi is perfectly placed to explore them. Make sure you visit Vendicari Nature Reserve with its sandy beaches; Calamosche is particularly beautiful! Fontane Bianche is not far, and is a very popular beach with many beach bars to choose from. San Lorenzo is another heavenly sandy beach in the area for complete relaxation. For something unique, make your way to Portopalo di Capo Passero, where the Ionian and the Mediterranean Seas meet!

Towns & Sights

Gioi’s surrounding area is famous for the Baroque towns of the Val di Noto, so you are spoilt for choice with day trip destinations. Noto is the closest town for the villa, and is beautiful with honey-coloured buildings in the town centre. Modica is another highlight, with catehdrals and chocolate to explore. Scicli is a jewel-like town with charming piazzas and incredible restaurants. Siracusa should also not be missed! Visit this popular town and stroll through Ortigia, the old town centre, and stop off at the Archaeology Park and Greek theatre for a step back in time.

Activities

There’s never a dull moment in this part of Sicily. Take a boat trip along the south-east coast and discover the pretty bays and clear water from a different perspective. Have a go at windsurfing at Pozzallo, a sandy beach famous for watersports. Get to know the local wine with a trip to a local winery and enjoy a tasting, or learn some culinary secrets at a local cooking school. Don’t miss the chocolate factory in Modica! If you love nature, go for a hike at Cavagrande del Cassibile, or enjoy birdwatching at Vendicari!
