Ragusa is a town that is so rich in delights to discover: the magnificent cathedral, the park, Donnafugata castle and the Cappuccini bridge are just some of the splendid sights to see, between the Neo-Gothic and Baroque. The town, with its beautiful panoramic position, offers and amazing view of the surrounding area.

San Giorgio Duomo

The stunning cathedral set above Ragusa's main piazza is a Baroque treasure, started in 1738 after the devastating earthquake in 1693.

Ponte dei Cappuccini

A deep valley divides Ragusa, and is traversed by four bridges. The oldest is the Ponte dei Capuccino. Don't miss it!

Castello di Donnafugata

This incredible castle is close to Ragusa. Its gothic architecture is breathtaking and it is a great place to visit!

Giardino Ibleo

The beautiful park, with towering palm trees, in Ragusa Ibla is a wonderful place for a peaceful stroll.

A town of two parts

Today Ragusa is made up of Ragusa Ibla (the lower, older town), and Ragusa Superiore (the more modern town set above the old town).

Sicel Town

Ragusa has an ancient past, and was originally a Sicel town, home to one of the indigenous Sicilian tribes.

Montalbano Location

The ever-popular TV series Inspector Montalbano is filmed in the area. Visit nearby Punta Secca to see his fictional home!

Unesco Val di Noto Towns

Ragusa is one of the seven towns included in the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site.
