Outdoor

Park in the villa's private car park and you are instantly in the lovely garden with fabulous sea views. Although the villa is set above the beach, you feel like you could touch it! The well-kept garden has a shaded dining area for leisurely al fresco lunches, as well as an outside shower for cooling off after a day at the beach. Lovers of games will enjoy the ping pong table and foodies will delight in the barbecue area and outdoor kitchen. The highlights for many are the beautiful gazebo with comfy sofas - the best place for an evening aperitivo - and the marvellous jacuzzi with sea views.

Indoor

The main door leads straight into the large, charming living area. Exposed stone creates a traditional atmosphere and comfy sofas surround a fireplace. The rustic kitchen is lovely with a separate laundry room and storage area, and there is also direct access to the gazebo outside through French windows. There is also a dining room, a characteristic stone bathroom with shower, and a small reading area that is ideal for a relaxed moment.

Climb the main staircase to the first floor: to the left is the TV area on a mezzanine above the living room. On the right is a convertible twin bedroom, a shared bathroom with a shower and the master bedroom. This lovely room has a balcony and stunning sea views. A secondary staircase from the ground floor living area leads to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom on the first floor.

Surrounding Area & Activities

Beaches

Being so close to the coast, Calura has many beaches nearby that you can explore. Cefalù is one of the most famous beaches in Sicily and its clear to see why. The beach is right in town but offers fine sand and clear waters, as well as lidos and free areas to enjoy. If you want somewhere a bit quieter, Sant’Ambrogio and Finale di Pollina are wonderful choices, the former with fine sand whilst the latter has pebbles. The beach at Tusa is a Blue Flag beach so you’re guaranteed clear waters and top facilities including some lovely seafront restaurants and lidos.

Towns & Sights

North Sicily is easy to explore with Calura as a base. You can’t miss Cefalù. This seaside town is full of atmospheric streets, an imposing cathedral, and superb restaurants and bars. It’s the perfect holiday town! Santo Stefano di Camastra is also worth a visit. Famous for its colourful ceramics, take a trip to one of the workshops and pick up some souvenirs. Castel di Tusa is another charming seaside town, and in this area you can visit the Fiumara d’Arte land sculpture trail. The Madonie Mountains are very close. Head to Castelbuono and visit the Medieval castle and try the incredible local food.

Activities

For some extra foodie fun that can be enjoyed in the comfort of Calura itself, book an in-villa cook service or cookery lesson. They are wonderful ways to enjoy authentic Sicilian food and even learn a few tricks of the trade! Wine-lovers will adore visiting a local winery and trying the local vintages and delicacies. If you prefer to learn about history then a tour of the unique Arab-Norman architecture in Palermo and Monreale is a great choice, or if food is your thing, then a Palermo Street Food tour is a must!
