Renée

A large covered veranda, which extends the whole width of the house and has views across the countryside towards the sea, is a great spot for al fresco meals. From here, steps lead down to the pool area which is gated for those with young children. A poolside covered gazebo provides welcome shade in the heat of the day, and there is a second sheltered terrace area, with table, chairs and a barbecue, at the back of the house.

Terracotta floors throughout the villa feel cool underfoot and colourful patterned Caltagirone ceramic tiling are found throughout. On the ground floor, an attractive Sicilian-style kitchen leads to the open-plan sitting room, which has a comfy seating area with open fire, and a separate dining area.

The upper floor comprises two double bedrooms (one with wonderful sea views and an ensuite bathroom with a bath), a lovely twin room and second bathroom with a shower. All the bedrooms are simply furnished with crisp white linen on the beds.

Beaches

Renée is perfectly positioned to visit some of the best beaches in Sicily. The incredible Tonnara di Scopello is very close. This amazing beach is famous thanks to being used as a filming location and its sea stacks create an amazing backdrop to your beach day. You can also easily visit Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve, a stretch of coastline with a series of rocky bays. Bring a picnic and spend the day hiking and swimming to your heart’s content. Slightly further away is the sandy beach of San Vito lo Capo. This large sandy beach is incredibly popular and has a wealth of lidos to rent sunloungers and umbrellas. 

Towns & Sights 

Scopello is the nearest small town. The baglio in the centre has a few bars and restaurants to enjoy. Make sure you try the pane cunzato. Castellammare del Golfo is not far. This seaside town has a pretty port and town centre perfect for a stroll. To the west you can visit hilltop Erice with its magical Medieval atmosphere, or Trapani from where you can take a ferry to the Aegadian islands. To the east you can get to Palermo, Sicily’s capital city, with colouful markets, great museums, impressive achitecture, and an unforgettable character. 

Activities 

A private tour of Segesta, Erice, and the salt pans between Trapani and Marsala allows you to see the best sights of the area, including ancient ruins, unusual scenery, and beautiful small towns. Another good tour option is a Street Food tour in Palermo during which you can taste the famous street food whilst being guided around the city. A wine tasting will appeal to foodies. Visit and taste the local wines, and learn about the wine-making process. Or, hit the sea and enjoy a sunny day on deck seeing the most beautiful bays and swimming in the clearest water.
