Tenuta Tomasi

Tenuta Tomasi’s elegant personality comes to life in the wonderful outside area. The saltwater pool features a temperature regulation system that allows the water to be heated or cooled as needed. Shaded verandas with bamboo pergolas, sun loungers, cosy corners under ancient olive trees with sofas and armchairs, and a Mediterranean garden filled with the scent of aromatic herbs create the perfect setting for moments of peace and beauty. The outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and dining table add a touch of luxury. It is perfect at any time of day, preparing and enjoying delicious al fresco meals. There is also a bathroom with a shower and sink outside the Guest House.

Main House

Tenuta Tomasi is a true example of authentic and elegant Puglian style. The attention to detail and the use of unique materials, like wicker and willow shoots, with a minimal feel, creates a relaxing atmosphere. The living area is made up of an open-plan kitchen with an island, a large dining table, a seating area with a large sofa, a fireplace, and a TV. The four French doors create a luminous feel, and lead directly to the veranda that looks out over the pool. There are two charming double bedrooms, each with a desk and wardrobe. They share a spacious bathroom with a shower. All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning.

Guest House

The Guest House has the same style as the main house, with a bright living area with an open-plan kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining table, a fireplace, and a cobalt blue corner sofa bed that can accolade two extra guests on request. Two French doors lead to the large veranda outside. The comfortable double bedroom is next to the living area. It has a wardrobe and air-conditioning, as well as its own bathroom with a shower. There is also another area with a washing machine, and an extra fridge. The Guest House also has air-conditioning throughout. 

Beaches

San Pietro in Bevagna beach is only a few minutes’ away from the villa. This beautiful beach is also famous for the discovery of the “King’s Sarcophagi”, huge marble sarcophagi from the 3rd Century B.C.E that are underwater just off the coast. Chidro beach and the Riserva Salina dei Monaci are also close to the villa. Punta Prosciutto is about 10 km from the villa in one direction, and Dune di Campomarino is the same distance in another. Both have fine sand and shallow waters. Porto Cesareo - famous for its golden sand and turquoise water - is thirty minutes’ away. 

Towns & Sights

Head inland and visit Manduria with its charming town centre and narrow streets. Or the delle Mura archaeological park with the largest Messapian necropoli ever found (around 2500 tombs in total). Going south you will get to Gallipoli, a famous town that juts out into the sea with its overhanging walls, and is linked to the mainland via a narrow spit of land. After strolling around the streets and visiting the cathedral, there’s nothing better than a evening meal by the sea. 

Activities 

A visit to Grottaglie should be on your list of things to fo. Just 45 minutes’ from the villa, this fascinating town is found on a hill. It is interesting both for its town centre that is carved out of tufa stone, but also for the Ceramics Neighbourhood full of artisans and ceramic workshops where beautiful works of art are made. Don’t forget to explore the area’s gastronomy: “li fai e foje”, a fava bean mash served with vegetables; “pizzarieddi,” hand-made pasta; and "friselle" with salt, oil, oregano, and tomatoes. Everything goes perfectly with a glass of Primitivo di Manduria red wine.
