Masseria Salentino is found in Salento’s beautiful countryside surrounded by vines and ancient olive trees that are part of the property.
The incredible swimming pool has an elegant entrance with gentle steps leading into the water and is surrounded by sunloungers and umbrellas, as well as a beautiful lawn which leads to the vines. The tall palm trees that fringe one side of the pool really catch your eye and create an incredible atmosphere. There are an unheated jacuzzi with hydromassage function and an external shower next to the pool. The two barrel saunas are an another level of comfort and exclusivity at this wonderful villa. There are also two bamboo gazebo areas, one near the pool with tables and a barbecue, and the other near the wine bar where you can cool off during warm summer days and enjoy al fresco meals in the peaceful surroundings, so close to nature.
When the sun sets the external lights – in the swimming pool and along the clay paths that cross the property – light up creating a magical atmosphere. The villa also has bicycles that guests can use.
Masseria Salentino is steeped in history and dates back to the time when pilgrims walked the Via Francigena towards Jerusalem. The masseria along the way, found in rural locations, where places of rest and restoration for them during their journey. After the property’s restoration, which has kept all the traditional touches of this charming building, guests can now enjoy an authentic rural experience in this prestigious villa in Puglia. The furnishings are all made using natural materials including wood and white stone, and pale colours that come together and create an elegant and simple style.
The villa is principally set over the ground floor. The main entrance is from an internal courtyard with a magnificent olive tree in the centre. The large living area is divided into a dining room and a sitting area with a fire place, a spacious sofa and a TV. The professional-grade kitchen is next to living area can is used exclusively by professional chefs. In the dining room, guests can enjoy an exclusive culinary experience, with lunches and dinners prepared by expert chefs using only fresh, local ingredients. This extraordinary perk, included in the stay, elevates the entire experience, making the vacation truly unique and unforgettable. A charming wine bar is on the ground floor. This room can only be accessed from outside and has vaulted ceilings, rustic wooden benches, and an old wine press that only adds to this room’s character. Delicious breakfasts of local products – also included in your stay – are served here in the mornings.
Five of the six bedrooms are accessed from the courtyards. These bedrooms have characteristic vaulted ceilings and niches in the walls with suffused lighting and Puglian and Sicilian decorations. The first double bedroom, Despotes, has a wardrobe, a TV, and minifridge. Its bathroom (open to the bedroom) has two sinks, a shower, and a heated jacuzzi (without a hydromassage function). The double rooms Primitivo, Verdefian, Negramaro, and Susumaniello are also furnished with a wardrobe, TV, and minibar. Primitivo is additionally equipped with a single sofa bed. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
You can reach the tower via an internal staircase or by external stone steps. This is home to the most exclusive double bedroom, Tyrannus. This ancient tower dates from the 15th Century and maintains much of its original character as it is protected by FAI (The Italian National Trust). Outside the tower there is a heated jacuzzi with a hydromassage function and a panoramic view of the vines.
In the heart of Salento, Masseria Salentino is found in San Pietro Vernotico. This strategic location is ideal for visiting the coastline as well as some of the most beautiful towns of the area. The beach Lido Presepe is only 5 km away. If you head further south you can reach Casalabate and Torre Rinalda with its beach lapped by crystal clear waters and surrounded by sandy dunes and pine trees. If you head towards the Ionian coast, don’t miss Torre Lapillo, one of the most incredible beaches in Porto Cesareo.
Ostuni – known as the White City – and Lecce are two unmissable towns. Lecce is only 20 minutes away from the villa. If you visit, take the time to try some of the local gastronomic specialties like rustico and pasticciotto, one of Lecce’s most symbolic sweet treats! Carovigno is also easy to visit from the villa. This town has ancient origins and its centre is full of small streets and piazzas that should be explored at a slow pace. San Vito dei Normanni is 30 minutes away and is another delight with its historic Medieval castle. Make sure to add Brindisi to your tour of the area; often overlooked, Brindisi has one of the most beautiful natural ports in the world and a charming town centre to discover.
For wine lovers, make the most of the tastings on offer at Masseria Salentino. The produce rosé wines and white wines, but are most well-known for the red wines. In fact, this area near San Pietro Vernotico is also known as Parco del Negramaro from which the name of the wine originates.
