Nido degli Aranci

The outdoor area truly reflects the traditional architecture of the area with dry-stone walls that blend in perfectly with the surrounding countryside that is full of ancient olive trees so typical of Puglia. 

There are three different areas: the swimming pool, the large outdoor seating area, and the pergola surrounded by plants and olive trees. The elegant saltwater pool has sunloungers under umbrellas, a bamboo pergola, or under the sun. There’s also a handy outdoor shower in this area. 

The outdoor dining area has an outdoor kitchen, a barbecue, a large stone table where you can share convivial moments, coming together for wonderful meals surrounded by the magical Puglian summery skies. 

The pergola is central in the garden. This shady area is accessible from all of the French Windows of the house. This area, with high-quality design furniture and encircled by scented plants and olive trees, is the best place to relax. Read a book, enjoy light-hearted conversations, or lounge in the irresistible hammock. 

There is also a roof terrace - set over two levels - with chairs, sunloungers, and a table which is the perfect place to enjoy the sunshine or just gaze out over the countryside and azure skies. 

Villa Nido degli Aranci has recently been restored by local Puglian artisans. With their traditional know-how they have maintained the characteristic soul of the villa, such as the vaulted rooves and old doors. 

The villa is set over 180 square metres. The entrance is bright and welcoming and is furnished with great taste that is found throughout the whole property. To the right of the entrance is a gorgeous living area that is full of light, with a large sofa, a table and a TV. To the left of the entrance is the kitchen with a dining table and all the necessary kitchen equipment, decorated with delicate pastel colours. 

There are three bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. Two of the rooms have double beds, and the third bedroom has two single beds. The bedrooms are furnished with a charming simplicity with rustic wooden shelves and built-in wardrobes and bedside tables. All three bedrooms also have direct access to the garden as well.  

Nido degli Aranci has a countryside location but is only a few kilometres from the coast. Pilone beach is the closest to the villa, just ten minutes’ away by car. 

The Parco Naturale delle Dune Costiere should not be missed. This protected area goes from Torre Canne to Torre San Leonardo, and has sandy dunes and incredible beaches along the coast, as well as tracks to walk along where you can find masserie, furrows, and caves that were once inhabited. 

A tour around the main towns in the Valle d’Itria is always a good idea, and must include Ostuni – only 6.5 km from the villa – as well as Alberobello, Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Cisternino, Monopoli, and Polignano a Mare. Each of these towns is beautiful, with unique atmospheres that show you the true essence of this wonderful part of Puglia. 

Alberobello deserves a special mention as it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its characteristic trulli, dating back hundreds of years, are unique in the world. Stroll through the narrow streets of the historic centre and immerse yourself in the fascinating and historical atmosphere . Alberobello also offers a rich culinary tradition, with typical Puglian dishes such as orecchiette alle cime di rapa (pasta with turnip tops), focaccia barese, and panzerotti that can be enjoyed in the numerous local restaurants.

The Via Traiana and Via Francigena are also close to the villa, which you can hike along either on foot or by bike. 

If you love great food then this area offers so much. Make sure to explore the restaurants and trattorias and try the local Ostuni specialty which is simple but very delicious: “stacchiodde” orecchiette with tomato sauce with basil and grated ricotta.
