Tenuta Carrubi

The outdoor space really sets Tenuta Carrubi apart. The Mediterranean garden, custom-designed by the famous garden designer Gianni Birardi, is divided into sections with vegetables, fruits, a private wood, and olive and carob trees. 

You can reach the incredible saltwater pool with panoramic views via a grassy path. There are sunloungers and umbrellas here, as well as a changing room with a bathroom, an outdoor shower, and a washing machine. There is also an area for relaxation with outdoor seating, and two hanging chairs attached to a tree. The evening lights create an idyllic scene. Another area has a dining table and outdoor seating. There is parking for up to ten cars. 

Tenuta Carrubi has a long family history. Starting from being a building that was used to work the land, the estate now has a touch of modernity and contemporary style. Up to ten guests can stay at the villa which is divided in two adjacent buildings, Il Carrubo, and Il Leccio. 

Il Carrubo is the main villa. Enter into a living room with a dining table and and open-plan kitchen with an island. The style is rustic and authentic thanks to the original bamboo and straw features. There are three double bedrooms. Two bedrooms have direct access outside to the patio. Il Carrubo also has two bathrooms with shower. 

Il Leccio has a bright living area with a sofa, a dining table, a fireplace and a beautiful view out over the garden and pool. Il Leccio is elegant with simple and stylish furniture. The kitchen - with all equipment necessary - is found just off the living area. There are two double bedrooms and two bathrooms with shower. You can also reach the patio with an outside dining table from the French Windows in the living room. 

Beaches

Tenuta Carrubi is found at Castellana Grotte, in the Valle d’Itria. Its position is wonderfully strategic. In just thirty minutes you can reach the coast with its wonderful beaches like Torre Canne or the well-known Capitolo di Monopoli area. This is a series of bays with low cliffs or fine sand, lapped by crystal-clear water. Spend a day in a quiet bay or choose the comfort of a lido with sun loungers and umbrellas. 

Towns & Sights

Monopoli and Polignano a Mare are both on the coast and are about 30 minutes away from the villa. But picturesque inland towns - like Martina Franca and Cisternino also await! Alberobello, a symbolic town in the Valle d’Itria that’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its trulli is very close. Putignano is famous for its Carnevale celebrations, and Locorotondo is known for its unusual format. Don’t miss Ostuni - the White City - close to Salento. It’s only 45 minutes’ away. You’ll love the town centre with whitewashed buildings, as well as its views over the Adriatic Sea. 

Activities

Grotte di Castellana is unmissable. This breathtaking natural wonder is only seven km form the villa. Visiting the cave with its stalagmites and stalactites with incredible forms is an unforgettable experiences. The Valle d’Itria will charm you with its unique architecture and beauty, but also for its gastronomic specialities like bombette or gnummareddi. These traditional snacks are served in typically local restaurants like “fornelli pronti”. Match them with a glass of local wine like Martina Franca DOP, Locorotondo DOP, or Bianco d’Alessano.
