Lamia degli Aromi is a luxury villa in Puglia with an impressive history that creates a unique atmosphere. The elegant property of today is thanks to a renovation of a traditional lamia, which was once used by the local farmers who tended to the surrounding land. The resulting villa is a real masterpiece, created by local artisan builders. Of course, the villa also has modern touches that ensure every comfort needed, as well as an elegant infinity pool.
The villa is set in four hectares of ancient olive trees. Ostuni – the White City – shines just a few kilometres away, and you can admire the view of this beautiful town from the villa’s terrace. The villa’s garden is full of aloe vera, prickly pears, bougainvillea, viburnum, jasmine and aromatic plants. The scent from these plants will transport you to an idyllic, Eden-like environment.

Ostuni (Central Puglia)
With its whitewashed walls contrasting with the area’s red soil, as well as the blue reflections from the pool, Lamia degli Aromi is an impressive sight.
The infinity pool has a cleaning system that uses salt and can be reached from the villa via a white pavement made of high-quality materials that maintain their cool even during a hot day in Puglia.
After a refreshing swim in the pool you can relax on the sunloungers under the umbrellas, or on the built-in seating. The surrounding rural area gives a real sense of peace and tranquility. If you prefer shade, head to the gazebo with a bamboo roof that’s close to the swimming pool with a table and wooden benches. This area also has an outdoor kitchen and a barbecue; the scene of many unforgettable al fresco meals with the scent of the Mediterranean plants wafting by.
The panoramic terrace is the best spot in the evenings for a romantic moment looking out over Ostuni and out towards the sea in the distance, maybe with a glass of local Puglian wine in hand.
The expert artisan builders who restored this villa worked with the utmost attention to detail on every aspect of the property, respecting the area’s traditions. These include the whitewashed walls, the wonderful vaulted ceilings, the “cocciopeste” flooring, the ceramics, and the local soft furnishings.
Villa Lamia degli Aromi is so welcoming, and is perfect for a family with children. There’s a lovely open-plan living area with a sofa and a table. Next to this area is the kitchen, with all the equipment you need during your holiday including an induction hob.
The mezzanine level has a bedroom – accessible via a spiral staircase – with two singles beds and a charming porthole window. The second bedroom is on the ground floor and has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom with a shower. There’s another bathroom on the ground floor with a shower.
The villa’s interior has a wonderful charm and personality thanks to the traditional feel, as well as the elegant furnishings with touches of blue and white throughout.
Lamia degli Aromi is 8 kilometres from Ostuni, a picturesque town that is world-famous, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Perched on a hill overlooking the Adriatic coast, it offers breathtaking views of the sea and the countryside.
It is easy to visit Puglia’s countryside from the villa, as well as the well-known towns of the area such as Locorotondo, Alberobello, Martina Franca, Cisternino, Monopoli, and Polignano a Mare, not forgetting the lesser-known but very beautiful Carovigno.
Alberobello, nestled in the heart of Puglia, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its iconic trulli are an unparalleled example of local architecture. Wandering through the alleyways of its historic centre is like walking through real-life history and culture. Alberobello's culinary scene is equally enticing, with a wide range of traditional Puglian dishes such as fresh burrata, fava beans with chicory, and taralli, that are all a must to try!
A holiday in this area wouldn’t be complete without getting to know the gorgeous coastline and beautiful beaches in the area. Marina di Ostuni and Torre Pozzelle should not be missed. Lido Morelli – found in the Parco Naturale delle Dune Costiere – is a must and is a Blue Flag beach thanks to its clean water and absolute beauty.
Grottaglie is a must if you want to visit a town that’s famous for its artisan products. This small town is famous for its ceramics. There are many local workshops that still use traditional techniques.
Another of the area’s attraction is the famous Via Francigena, a pilgrim’s route that stretches from the north of Italy to the south.
