Palermo Airport

Palermo Airport is located 20 km north-west of Palermo. It was renamed Aeroporto Falcone e Borsellino following the murder of two anti-Mafia judges in 1992.

As one of Sicily's largest airport, many air companies fly in and out of Palermo. There are frequent flights – both national and international – every day.

We always suggest that guests should arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight, especially in the summer when there can be longer queues.

After passing through security Palermo Airport has some shops and bars, as well as a Duty free area. Travellers can pick up souvenirs or snacks whilst waiting for their flight, as well as books, newspapers and magazines.

Palermo Airport also has a pharmacy, a bureau di change, free WiFi and other services available for maximum peace of mind.

Airport Assistance

Special Assistance is available at Palermo airport. If you need this service, please contact your air company before your departure. This must take place at least 48 hours before travelling. Your airline will then pass on your request to Palermo Airport. This service is free of charge and is available to all those who need it.

There are dedicated parking areas at Departures (marked with H) which can be used if passengers have the correct parking permit.

Passengers who require special assistance should make their way to the Special Assistance lounge found on the first floor of the airport where there will be staff who will assist you. There is also free Wi-Fi in this area.

Airport Transfers

We would be happy to help you organise an airport transfer to and from your villa. This is a great way to avoid any stress at your time of arrival and departure.

Your driver will be waiting and will whisk you and your party to your destination. It's really that simple!

Take a look at our Airport Transfers and start planning your journey. All the information you need, including prices, is readily available.

Airport Buses

There are several bus routes from the airport that run daily. The bus terminal is outside Arrivals to the right of the building.

Prestia e Comandè runs a service every 30 minutes from 6:30 am until midnight to Palermo's central station. Tickets are bought at the ticket office outside the arrivals terminal or, if it is closed, tickets can be bought on the bus.

There are also regular buses to other Sicilian towns such as Marsala, Trapani, Agrigento, and San Vito lo Capo. These are organised by various Sicilian companies.

To see up to date timetables and weigh up your options, you can always visit our Trains & Buses page where you can search for all available public transport options.

Airport Taxis

City taxis that take you to and from the airport are available, but for longer journeys we suggest arranging a private transfer in order to enjoy greater comfort and better prices.

The taxi rank is found outside the Arrivals terminal. There are fixed prices for Palermo city centre (€45). If you choose to go elsewhere the price will depend on the journey's distance.

There is also a Shared Taxi Service to Palermo city centre with a flat rate of €8 per passenger.

All taxis run according to the flight schedules so there should always be a taxi available when you land at Palermo airport.

Lost Luggage

In the unfortunate case your luggage gets lost, you should go to the Lost & Found office as soon as possible, especially in high season when queues can be very long. You will have to fill in a form at the Lost & Found desk, with details about your luggage and your contact details.

When your bags are found, you can either choose to go and collect the luggage at the airport yourself, or have the airport staff deliver it to the address you have provided. If you are staying not too far from the airport, we recommend you go and pick the luggage up yourself, as opposed to waiting for the delivery company to come to you, given that this might take up to 72h and they do not always provide a specific delivery time. If you choose the first option you will have to pick up the luggage during the Lost & Found opening times and pass controls, so please make sure to bring your copy of the claim form and your passport.

Guests who have booked with Villatravellers can always contact Villatravellers staff for extra assistance.
