Stylish, spacious and supremely comfortable for a group or two families: think extreme attention to detail without over-the-top extravagance. Overlooking the hills around Palermo, a stay at Il Poggio manages to deliver a rural, city and beach experience all in one go.
The villa overlooks Palermo’s Conca d’Oro, a series of rolling hills swathed in citrus groves, and yet despite the rural setting, Palermo's city centre, Mondello beach and the airport are all within a one hour drive.
The large pool is the focal point of a lovely lawned garden, scattered with sunloungers, a hammock, table and chairs, and with gorgeous views. A path leads directly from the house to the pool. The shaded dining and barbecue area are conveniently situated, just a few steps from the kitchen back door. At the front of the villa, a covered veranda, with comfortable sofas and a low coffee table, and overlooking the garden, provides welcome shade during the heat of the midday sun.
Enter the villa through large floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open into a very spacious living area. One half of the room has several sofas and armchairs grouped around an elegant coffee table, and a fireplace to one side and, behind that, an additional sitting area with a large L-shaped sofa and flat screen TV. The other half of the living area comprises a spacious dining room with a table and chairs. The dining room leads out to a fabulously modern kitchen with exposed stone walls. A central island provides extra work space and an external door leads out to the back garden. There is also a guest bathroom on this floor.
Upstairs, there are three lovely double bedrooms, (one with a private balcony overlooking the countryside) and two bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower. A spiral staircase leads up to a studio bedroom in the attic, with a vaulted ceiling, and furnished with a double bed and comfy sofa.

Thanks to the elevated position of the house 700 m above sea level, and to its proximity to the woods, Il Poggio is usually very cool - even in summer - and so air conditioning is unnecessary. However, two bedrooms have air conditioners while the others are equipped with ceiling fans.
